Wemp and Smith Construction Ltd. was founded in 1986 by partners Fred Wemp and Chris Smith both native residents to the Kingston area. The Company started off in the business of building residential homes and eventually grew to take on the challenge of a commercial and excavation as well. Over the years, Wemp and Smith Construction has become a well-known and respected operation in the industry for Kingston and surrounding area.

Meet the Team

Fred Wemp, Vice-President
I have had forty years experience in the construction industry, and of that I have been in a partnership for the last twenty-one years. I have been involved in all aspects of construction as a general contractor.

Chris Smith, President
I have had thirty years experience in the construction industry, and of that I have been in a partnership for the last twenty years. I have been involved in all aspects of construction as a general contractor.

Tammie Shatraw, Office Manager
I have been in the construction industry for the past eighteen years. My career has always been accounting and project costing. I have been Office Manager for Wemp & Smith Construction Ltd. since November of 2003.

Derek Dowling, Residential Manager
I have been involved in the construction trade since 1991. I started my apprenticeship that spring with Wemp & Smith and became a licensed carpenter in 2000. I was then involved as site supervision on both commercial and residential projects. Presently I organize all of our new home projects from start to finish and assist in the estimating of residential and commercial projects.

Donnie Wemp, Site Work Manager
I have been working in the construction industry for ten years. I have an agricultural background and I have worked with machinery. Prior to taking on the role of Site Work Manager I was a Project Manager on commercial projects. As the Site Work Manager I look after all relevant start up site work in residential and commercial projects.
